"Mum, what's the plan for Valentine's Day?" I asked my mum this morning.
Hey, don't give me that side-eye! Yeah, I know people usually ask their partners, but hey, I've always been a bit unconventional. It's not even a crime to call me weird.
“Plans ke? It’s a Wednesday nau. There’s nothing to plan for, because we can’t skip work. Besides, there are other days to celebrate. It’s not as if your father and I abandoned our work for you to neglect your job because of Valentine’s Day.” she said giving me THE look.
Oh, hold up! That’s why this question is directed to my mum, like, why would people ask what I will do on Valentine’s Day? On a Wednesday?
Well, I'll tell you what I'll be doing—I'll be heading to work. (And for once, I'll be happy about it.)
I'll be so swamped that even my phone will be begging for attention, but nah, I won't even look its way. No lovey-dovey posts or pictures are gonna pressure my single eyes.
I will probably finish one book that’s got nothing to do with love and everything to do with demons. And hey, I'll be practicing my performance for the imaginary concert where everyone is cheering for me and my not-so-melodious voice. (Don't ask me about my favorite song; I don't have one, but any heartbreak tune ironically fixes my broken heart.)
Okay, I'll admit, I won't resist my phone all day. I'll succumb to the temptation and go through people’s lovey dovey posts. But instead of feeling sorry for myself, I'll turn it into a comedy show.
"Oh, it's plastic!"
"it’s even fake o"
I'll laugh at bad grammar, bad hair, you name it.
Who says there’s no happiness for the singles?
Music Recommendation:
Ta-da! (Okay, that didn't sound as cool as I thought.) But worry not, I won't suggest any heartbreak songs—let's save those for another time. Instead, check out "On Purpose" by Ni/Co. Even if no one loves you on purpose, it's okay to be a little delulu as you jam to it. Yeah, act it out. Life's a stage, right? You can thank me later.
Movie Recommendation:
I'm currently binge-watching "The Brothers Sun." OMG, this series has stolen my heart, my soul, everything! Okay, it's not romance, but it's action-packed comedy. This movie will make you laugh and keep you on the edge of your seat—it's the whole package. You're welcome.
That being said. Happy Valentine’s Day in advance! Whether you have a partner or not, whether you have a big date or no date at all, whether you will receive a gift or not, don’t forget that Valentine’s Day is not just about these things, it’s about accepting and celebrating the love you have around you—it doesn’t have to be romantic. Also, remember that self-love is the BEST love.
Ciao!
Thank you🥰
Tell me, who wouldn’t love this? It’s so progressive and laced with humor. I would pay to read something like this ❤️🫶🏼
